Leanmote: The FIFA Game for Companies

Building strong and united teams in your company, like in sports, not families.

Are you struggling to build a strong and united team in your company? Do you believe that sports teams provide a great model for teamwork in business? If so, people analytics might be the solution you’re looking for.

In a Harvard note Reid Hoffman, Ben Casnocha, and Chris Yeh sayed:  “Using the term family makes it easy for misunderstandings to arise.” With that term, the rules of the competitive industry are not taken into consideration. “In contrast to a family, a professional sports team has a specific mission (to win games and championships), and its members come together to accomplish that mission.”

In sports, the strongest teams are built on a clear strategy, excellent teamwork, and data analysis. Similarly, in business, it’s essential to have a strong team that believes in the company’s mission and is passionate about their work. At Leanmote, we understand the importance of building a strong team, and we have the tools to help you do it.

Don’t treat your company like a family, treat it like a sports team and use data to win the game.

Strong as a rock

Building a strong team is critical for success. The foundation of a successful team is identifying and nurturing high-potential individuals. These individuals are the “elite” athletes of the business world who have the potential to take your company to the top of your industry. Or the World Cup.

But identifying high-potential individuals is just the beginning. It’s essential to provide these individuals with the support and coaching they need to succeed. That’s why we provide data so companies can identify needs and make intelligent decisions.

What’s a team without a coach?

In sports, the coach plays a critical role in leading and motivating the team. In business, the manager is the coach, and their job is to help the team members achieve their full potential. At Leanmote, we provide managers with real-time data about their teams.

One of the tools we provide is the RADAR, which shows how employees interact with others and how they are performing in different areas of work. The manager can use this information to identify areas where an employee may need additional coaching or support.

We also believe that managers should focus on quality rather than quantity. Leanmote provides the quantity so each manager can spend more time considering the quality of the work. By using data to identify the workload of each team member, managers can ensure that their employees are focused on producing high-quality work, rather than just completing tasks as quickly as possible.

With Leanmote, you’ll be able to see the performance of each employee in different areas. So it’s easier to distribute and organize the workflow to thrive as a team and not only as individuals. With RADAR, you can coach high-performing teams.

A good example of leveraging data is Lionel Scaloni, Argentina’s World Cup coach.

Despite the poor performance of Argentina in the past, Messi was impressed by Scaloni’s vision for the team.

Scaloni’s team was analyzing football players in a very particular way. They use the program Wyscout to understand every player in the world. Firstly, they broke down all the data to give Scaloni processed information, ready to use. This way, they could quickly know the movements, profiles and tactics of the rivals.

Scaloni didn’t have the experience as a coach but he had the right staff by his side. As a whole team, they thrived like never before.

Also, with metrics it is easier to have transparency through all the strategic decisions you make, within a sports team or a company. You can gain trust and belonging from all your people.

Peak performance

So, you have Messi. You know you have a top performer but as we said, that’s only the beginning. Just like an elite athlete, this employee needs to be nurtured and supported to reach their full potential.

How will Messi play with his peers?

How can managers provide the best working environment

so everyone explores and boosts their full potential?

At Leanmote, we help managers create a self-coaching culture that promotes continuous improvement and supports the wellbeing of their team members.

Also, if everyone has their own metrics, it’s easier for them to focus on their opportunity areas. The manager-coach has to follow this improvement process, but everyone should also know how to reach that top performance by seeing the progress with data.

In a remote work environment, this is even more important. With real-time metrics, you will have the visibility and understanding about your people that you need to make meaningful decisions. Personalized management and care for their wellbeing are key in this new world, in which the workforce is distributed and far from you.

In conclusion, making informed decisions is crucial for the coach to build sustainable progress, and work towards a goal. A coach provides guidance, support, and accountability that are essential for achieving continuous progress.

Remember, the goal is not in the game itself but in the championship.

Should we return or redesign the office?

Should we return or redesign the office?

After the pandemic, there are still unsolved issues about in-person work. We should rethink the working experience as a whole and learn from what we have lived in the recent past.Graphical user interface, application

Description automatically generated

Return to the office

When the pandemic was controlled, there was a moment we thought we could go back to the office whatsoever. How many times did we desire to go out, have a chat with our peers and see other human faces? Well, the thing is we didn’t fully understand that we couldn’t come out unharmed from the quarantine period.

We are not the same, the world changed, and we changed. There is no going back to the pre-pandemic workplace. The answer to this challenge seems to redesign the office rather than push employees to return to work everyday as they used to do.

Envisioning the office that employees will return to

Rethinking new ways of working is the best any company can do at this time. Knowing what your employees need and want is crucial to make these decisions.

We can help you with some trends that can pay the way for a better working environment:

  1. Identify the best in-person performing activities. Start gathering your people for these, such as brainstorming meetings or teamwork activities at the office.
  2. Flexibility for the working hours. If your team goes to the office, don’t force them to fulfill a rigid schedule. Let them come relaxed and go home when they accomplished the objectives of the day.
  3. Give the power to your people! Let them agree as a team which day they want to go to the office. If someone propose to go to the office and see each other is better, you can wait for this to happen.
  4. Continue to support and improve remote work. Use all the technology you have to make remote work, work. Use the evolving tools to constantly enhance the working experience.

Considering work modes rather than working hours

There is a moment of the day that can be called your working time. But now, we are looking for a better work-life balance that can be reached by rethinking our way of work.

Redesigning the workplace is considering working nodes and leaving the concept of rigid working days. Adapt to the idea of what does the work need to be done, and what’s the best use of time and place you can do to meet the weekly objectives, is one of the biggest challenges of the moment. Keep that in mind and you’ll take straightforward steps to thrive as a flexible office.

Some work modes are:

-Concentration: just focus, quiet places and no notifications.

– Collaboration: moments or meetings to think together as a team.

– Connection: chatting and bonding is essential for a happy and engaged team. The little chat on the kitchen it’s still important.

– Breaks: refreshing is working time too. Set time for this!

Maximizing the benefits of in-person and remote work

You can decide whether these working modes can be done in-person or in a remote environment, you can try both and then decide!

Returning to the office should be a choice and a benefit for every employee, not a challenge. Ready to make this flexible working space?

Leanmote’s data ethics: how we protect you

Giving the power of their own data to every user

Working with data about people

Data ethics is necessary and should be in everyone’s mind when managing private information.

Numbers, rates, colors, and charts are shown on a dashboard and someone can easily forget that it’s insight about people.  That’s not our case.

Beyond the legal obligation, there is an ethical principle to protect access to personally identifiable information (PII).

At Leanmote we collect information to get to know people, understand them, and contribute to their wellbeing. Our objective is to provide the solution to companies to build better working environments in a world with growing complexities.

How we collect and interpret information

We want to get to know people, without bothering them. That’s not an easy task when they are working, focused on what they have to do, maybe meeting deadlines, and dealing with pressures.

Leanmote offers an indirect way to collect data in addition to survey insight by connecting with productivity apps- like Slack, Jira, Google Meets, Teams and more- that the company already uses.

Understanding the general data lifecycle:

Image rights: A Beginner’s Guide to Data & Analytics, Harvard EBook.

“A data project’s steps are often described as a cycle because the lessons learned and insights gleaned from one project typically inform the next. In this way, the final step of the process feeds back into the first, enabling you to start again with new goals and learnings”, A Beginner’s Guide to Data & Analytics, Harvard EBook.

Also, the value of the data improves when you connect as many apps as you can because we cross all the information. This enables Leanmote to offer a closer look to reality.

3 levels of showing data

Leanmote gives the power of managing data to every person that uses the platform.

User/Employee: sees its own data and chooses what’s shown to others.

Imagine that you are with the computer, at working hours and you receive an email from HR with a climate survey. You have to stop what you are doing, fill the form and send it. What happens with that information? Who sees it? Where does it go?

With Leanmote, you can see this information. We enlighten people with their own data first, at real-time. When you accept to complete a survey or answer a question, you can instantly check it on the dashboard. In addition, anyone can go to settings and choose what to display for other members of the company.

I complete a survey or answer a question, and instantly check it on my dashboard. In addition, everyone can go to settings and choose what to display for other members of the company.

Manager/Team Leader: each team decides how to show their information.

The manager sees the team’s information when there are four or more people on their team. Analyzing their team’s data in real-time, gives them the opportunity to unlock customized management and better lead their colleagues.

C-Level/ People and Culture Leader: sees the protected and aggregated information at every team or department level

They can access all data but they don’t have unlimited power. Everyone has the control of their own data. This level analyzes the information that each team of the company chose to give.

Our 6 ethical principles

⭐Your data is yours. We don’t share it with anyone else.

⭐You choose what to share and with whom.

⭐You connect Leanmote with your working apps.

If we detect that someone is stressed, we send options about what to do with the situation to that person. We don’t send it to the manager so that it can decide over someone’s personal moment.

As Leanmote is API based, the more you connect your apps with the platform, the better information it will collect. This way, Leanmote can be your frictionless and single source of truth.

This principle is about honesty and consent, making sure that the user understands and accepts what type of data we collect.

Users know from day one that we are constantly gathering data and we give them the control of it. They can check their data and choose not to share it on the same platform. Also, we are transparent about why Leanmote collects information.

Leanmote ensures a strong security to all your data. We know that we handle important information that requires the highest levels of protection.

The platform has multiple-factor authentication: password, push notification and Google Authenticator. Also, all data is stored in Amazon Web Services (AWS) which provides safety and strict privacy.

Each user can choose what to show and only the company can see it.

If we talk about ethics, we should talk about intentions. Our intentions are good, Leanmote provides companies with their people data to enhance their working experience. We collect only the data that is useful for this purpose.

What do we mean by enhancing the daily working life of people? To give information so organizations can make intelligent decisions towards their employees. For example, with data we can prevent isolation, burnout, discontent, misunderstandings and more.

It’s all about the context! The holistic point of view that we offer is important to interpret data.

We provide information to analyze the state of human interaction at work. The variety and amount of information that it’s collected let us give accurate data about all users.

We accept feedback because we want to do better every time. If you detect any mistake, please contact us to point it out.

Terms based on these principles

Before you start using the platform, you can see our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service. We have based our terms with these ethics criteria. Check it out!

Using data to increase employees’ connectivity and enhance performance

Let’s talk about performance. Everyone wants to improve performance, make it more efficient and achieve business goals. But who are the ones that are always monitoring performance? Managers.

The goal? More productivity. The way? Empower your managers with real-time data to be good leaders and thrive with their teams.

Working better as a connected group

When you create a collaborative working environment, in which teams are encouraged to work together, positive results will appear for sure. This leads to an increase in productivity, with people who are eager to help each other and to do better at their jobs.

Being connected is a human thing, we are constantly looking for a place of belonging, where we can be ourselves and trust our peers.  A connected group is not only productive but also happy which really increases the possibility to retain talent and have loyalty towards the company. This can be difficult when the workforce is distributed: some work from home, others go to the office, and others adopt a hybrid model. Understanding what’s happening on the other side of the screen and building a connected workforce is today’s challenge.

How can you boost communications between teams and build a motivating working environment? By adopting intelligent solutions for managers.

Connector Manager: leading high performing employees

Not every contact is meaningful. To connect more isn’t just checking on your people every day. You have to know them, and understand their feelings and background to develop personalized management.

The Gartner Report The Connector Manager. Performance Advantage claims that there is a type of manager that “instead of trying to provide or facilitate coaching to drive current performance, they focus on supporting the whole person to drive well-being and sustainable performance.”

These managers are the Connector Managers, the ones who:

  • Builds a good working environment.
  • Measures the amount of feedback they give. They make sure the feedback is meaningful and customized.
  • Prioritize creating strong relationships.
  • Connects its team with others for professional development.

Connector managers also enhance the connections on three levels: manager with employees, communication and care within the team, and commitment towards the company.

Now we know that real communication is the way to reach the ‘zone of optimal performance’ of employees. The thing is, these managers need more than apps- like Slack, Teams, Jira- to create true interaction. A frictionless source of information can enlighten them to understand their people, know their feelings and take action to get closer to them.

“The decisions being made are shifting away from intuition and becoming far more data-informed, which lets leaders unlock the power of their people.” Dr. Tyrone Smith, Jr., Udemy’s director of people analytics.

This is essential for a better working environment, to understand the talent lifecycle and to retain them. Providing people analytics to your managers helps them become employee engagement experts.

Adopting people analytics to enhance management and retain talent

With the right information, leaders can start their journey to be Connector Managers. Why is it wiser to upgrade the way of getting employees’ feedback? Because surveys are dying. Employees feel uncomfortable and unsure when responding to them because they don’t know if they are truly anonymous. With people analytics, that fear goes away because each person has control over their information.

At Leanmote, employees, managers, and owners have an account to see their own data. Managers have access to their team’s analytics and owners to the whole company’s information. But -and here is the point- everyone can choose what is shown on the platform, you own our data. We care about security and privacy and each one has the power to control it, Leanmote is a first-party data platform.

How can data analytics improve the measurement of employees’ performance? With crossed information is collected passively and actively by the platform. That insight gives accurate information in real-time, and lets managers make data-driven decisions. Also, Leanmote uses a Node Network Model regarding connectivity within the team, which makes life easier for leaders. It takes only a glance to understand the information.

If leaders really see and understand their team, they can get closer to them and gain flexibility in their management.  People analytics “enhance employees’ work life, and introduce better workforce processes that ultimately connects people strategy to business strategy.

Giving the right tech tools to leaders for better management helps companies to stop the exit and leverage high-performers, paving the way for business growth.
